Radiohead’s “A Moon Shaped Pool”

Today Radiohead released their latest album “A Moon Shaped Pool”. The music is so haunting and atmospheric. It’s almost surprising they have so much commercial success, given how they are so meditative and depth-plumbing. I have also found them hypnotic and yet challenging because they trigger a very real sense of melancholy. The earlier albums did this too, but this album is strongly so, to my ear anyway. This is a complement, please be clear and I consider them one of the truly great bands. The fact that I feel their mesmeric chords a little frightening just reflects my fear of being sucked down into sadness. That doesn’t happen ofcourse. You just end up flying through the band’s very own ether…and it’s a “there, there” feeling. Thanks Radiohead yet again.
