Having coming across this book quite by accident, I am celebrating the brilliance of several books recently that connected the sciences and the humanities with aplomb. This is one such volume and it’s worth a bit of fandom. Basically, the author (a psychiatrist with an impressive knowledge of both L / R brain neuroscience as well as insight into the modern division of philosophy into Continental and Analytic branches) explains what it is to locate the real Self. For those of us still struggling to integrate the analytic with the contemplative, this is the book. This is a book worth reading slowly and maybe even underlining a few words here and there. Yes that’s right….I’m advocating book mutilation. THAT’s HOW GOOD THIS ONE IS…..
